The longer you’re into car audio the more chances you will have to install the components yourself. In this basic guide, I’ll tell you certain tools and components you will need to install a car audio amplifier.

Amplifiers can be a little bit tricky to install. They require removal of internal panels and also the running of wires from the front of the car to the rear or wherever the car audio amplifier will be mounted.

After purchasing you car audio amplifier you will need to purchase an amp wiring kit. These kits usually contain:

* A power wire (big red wire)
* Inline fuse holder
* set of RCA’s
* a long thin wire (mostly in blue color) called a remote
* some speaker wire and various wire connectors and wire loom

These kits also come in various sizes or gauges, with the most common being 8 gauge and 4 gauge kits. The smaller the number means the bigger the wire. 4 gauge kits will be plenty to handle up to roughly 600-1200 watt amplifiers.

Once you have got the car audio amplifier and amp wiring kit now its time to take a look under your hood and locate your battery. Once you have located the battery it’s best to unhook the battery during installation so that you don’t short anything out while working. Look around the firewall area on the side where your battery is located and check for any type of hole that would lead into the inside of your vehicle where you could run your power wire through. If you cannot find an easily accessible hole then you may have to drill one yourself. If you do have to drill one yourself it’s best to make a small hole at first so that you don’t damage any wires in the area. Gradually make the hole bigger with some type of step bit. Once the hole is made use rubber grommets to make sure the hole is sealed and that the metal edges don’t cut your power wire.

Now that the power wire is routed though the firewall it’s time to start to remove the internal panels for wire installation throughout your vehicle. During this process you will run 3 wires to the location of the car amplifier. Generally the amp will be in the trunk/hatch area. The first wire will be a red wire (which is the power wire you ran from the battery of the vehicle). The next will be a set of RCA’s, and the final wire will be the thin blue wire we call a remote. In some kits the remote wire can be built into the RCA’s. The RCA’s are what sends the sound or signal to the amplifier and then is amplified through the speakers. One rule I generally use when running the wires is to separate the power and RCA’s by running the power wire down one side and the RCA’s down the other. If not done correctly there is a chance that you could generate some engine noise from within your speakers. The RCA’s will plug into the output on the back of the radio, some CD players there will be a ‘subwoofer out’ set of RCA jacks that will give you more control over sound quality. The next is the remote wire (usually the blue thin wire) this is the wire that sends the amplifier the signal to power on when the radio is powered on. This wire hooks into the remote wire on the back of the CD player. Don’t worry about the wires being too long during this phase of the process, they can easily be trimmed once you find were you want the amplifier to sit.

Once you have the wires run you can set your box and amplifier were it will eventually be permanently installed to give yourself a reference on how much wire will need to be trimmed. You will also be able to establish where your ground will go at this time; generally a body ground somewhere within one foot of your amplifier will be sufficient. Once you have located a suitable place use a little sandpaper to clear the area of any paint so you will have a solid connection to the vehicle body. Now you can connect all the wires to the amplifier and subs and hide any excess wire to make your install look more professional.

Are Big Car Speakers Better?

If you are planning to purchase car speakers, there are things you need to know in order to make the best choice. A clear mind and a basic plan of what you intend to buy are crucial when shopping for car speakers. Big car speakers do not always mean better speakers.

Purchasing speakers for your car can end up being more costly than necessary if you buy speakers that have numerous features you won’t use. Keep in mind that top quality audio speakers cost more than some other brands, but are generally worth the investment. If big car speakers are your preference, make sure you buy a dependable brand name and make certain the speakers will provide you with crystal clear sound.

There are two basic kinds of car stereo speakers: component speakers and full range speakers. Each has advantages and disadvantages. Full range car stereo speakers generally consist of a tweeter, a woofer, and some may be equipped with a midrange or supertweeter. If you want to replace your factory speakers with minimal trouble, full range speakers are your best choice. Full range speakers come in varying sizes and price ranges.

If big car speakers are your preference, you can find full range speakers in almost any size. Component speakers give you the best possible sound quality through their superior design. The typical components include tweeters, separate woofers, and external crossovers. Each of these components is designed to compliment the others. Big car speakers can be part of a component system if you make sure you have all the necessary components.

For those who are serious about their car stereo speakers, a component system will be the best choice. Your sound system will have greater depth and sound more realistic. You can include big car speakers in a component system. Detailed sound and exceptional dynamics are the result of higher quality materials than are normally found in full range speakers.

The question of which are better – small or big car speakers is not a simple one. Big car speakers may be your preference but that will not ensure you of the getting the best sound. Car stereo speakers come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Determining the type of car audio system you want is much more important than the size of speakers you purchase.

Car audio systems are comprised of many different components. Having evolved greatly over the years, they now can include such things as CD players, DVD players, MP3 players, radios, subwoofers, equalizers, amplifiers, speakers, and receivers.

Car stereo receivers are the main control center of the car audio system. If there is no receiver present, you will not have a working system. Receivers are present not only in car audio systems, but radios, CD players, and DVD systems as well. They are extremely varied in type. Even though the type may vary, their main function is to produce the audio sound that we all enjoy listening to. Varying in type refers to the fact that some may include a CD player, DVD player, and some even have monitors to watch a movie, but they all produce sound. The car receiver is the main unit that is installed directly into the dashboard of an automobile.

Another component of car audio systems are equalizers. Equalizers are the unit that the main car stereo receiver connects to. As the car receiver’s job is to produce the sound, the equalizers job is to control the sound. The equalizer makes it capable for you to tailor the sound of the music to your personal preference. It incorporates other aspects of the system, such as the bass and treble for the best results. Equalizers also are equipped with multiple outputs so additionally accessories can be attached to the audio system. Examples of these would be the front and/or rear speakers, and a possible subwoofer.

Amplifiers are another important part of the car audio system. While the receivers are producing the sound, and the equalizers are controlling the sound, the amplifiers take frequency and make it into sound. Amplifiers, or “amps” classify their sound by something called watts. The greater number of watts, the louder and more powerful the audio will end up being.

Receivers, equalizers, and amplifiers are the “grand daddy” of the car audio system components. Without these three components working in harmony, there would not be a car audio system. There are though a couple of assistants that must be given notable mention also. Car speakers broadcast the sound in our automobile. Usually one would conceive that the larger the speaker, the larger the sound. Years ago this may have been true, but since car audio systems have evolved so greatly, even the smaller speakers can produce a near mind-blowing sound. Though briefly mentioned above, do not forget the subwoofers function. The subwoofers are located in the speakers, and they process the low frequency or bass. They allow the listener to not only hear a loud sound, but a clear one too.

Besides sub-woofers, car electronics shops sell car audio parts such as speakers and amplifiers. A great thing to improve the sound of the music you listen to while driving, making it a very pleasant experience. The key factor is to keep a valid balance without going overboard. The more attention you put in building your car sound system, the better the sound.

A good audio system makes spending a lot of time in the car a more enjoyable experience. Continuous fun and entertainment can be created with a music system in the car. New and nicer options of music systems come with newer car models. Others however, need purchasing and adding car audio electronics personally. The market has made this source of non-stop music available. Fresh arrivals of new devices come with added features and terrific designs. Few things need to be considered when buying and installing car audio electronics.

Noises made by other vehicles add up to the favourite tunes which can be noise in the car itself. Good quality car speakers are necessitated to address the situation. Speakers can full range speakers or component speakers.

The components in a full range speaker are mounted together. Included are the tweeters for highs and woofers for the low bass sounds. Purchasing a ready-to-use full range speaker is more convenient when replacing factory installed ones.

A component system separates the tweeter and the woofer. These can be installed in locations for most realistic stereo sound. The system provided optimum quality of sound. A network of filters, coils, and capacitors are external crossovers used also in component systems. Placed between the speaker and the amplifier, it directs specific frequency ranges to speaker components.

The various components should be matched, particularly the speakers and the amplifiers which gives power to the whole system. The power from an external amplifier requires speakers capable to handle it.

The parts of the car audio electronics must be the first ones to be considered when installing a car audio system. A CD player and radio receiver are the foremost components needed. The basic device to play cds and to provide radio reception are requisites. It is also desirable to have the system capable of plugging into the system some portable players like iPods and mp3.

Sophisticated mobile audio products for the extra special sound are made available by the world’s leading manufacturers. Online buying of components for car audio electronics can save much time and expenses. Also it provides the convenience of being free from busy-store tension and hassle.

After you’ve got your subwoofers selected it’s time to consider something to power them.

Amplifiers:
The first thing to consider is how many speakers will be hooked up to the amplifier and just how much space you’ll have to work with. If you’re likely to be linking an amplifier to your mids and highs, which are generally your front and rear 2 speakers, then you may want to consider a four-channel amplifier. If you’re adding subwoofers in to the vehicle it can become more pricey because subwoofers generally require more power than simply your mids and highs. Four channel amplifiers are not too extremely expensive because by utilizing them for your mids and highs you will not need hundreds of watts to make a great quality of sound. Subwoofer amplifiers are usually 2-channel amps and convey a reasonably great deal of power. For that more avid car enthusiast that wants to visit competitions you can even find mono-block amps which are a single-channel amplifier. They generate more power and are specifically designed for competitions.

Purchasing a car audio and video amplifier is like buying any component for your vehicle, have a good idea what you’re looking for and which price range fits then do some research for prices and availability inside your general area. You don’t need to buy the priciest amplifiers available on the market to obtain great results, but if your goals will be to compete then you definitely already know you will have to spend the additional money to obtain better quality components.

Many people want to personalize their ride with stereo upgrades and also the latest bling items. In this article we will discuss the latest options for upgrading your vehicle’s audio system. One thing to start off with is deciding where to invest the constituents. Many people will want the CD changer out of view. Simple sheet metal brackets can be made to mount it inside a console below the top to where the console lid clears the unit and goes undetected from the one’s view. The head unit with AM FM tuner can be installed behind the glove box lid using 20 gauge metal and bent to keep the unit which is standard size having a built in bracket system. To cover a sub woofer there are lots of places.

A great location is behind the rear seat facing the package tray high is ample room to upgrade to some bigger speaker. A paper board mockup will allow you to understand how big of the enclosure to purchase at your local supplier. Make sure the minimum air space required was met while holding everything in position. All major speakers MFG list their minimum air space requirements for just about any given speaker. You may have to modify the back of the rear seat a bit to allow the sub clearance and removing a wire or two won’t make much difference in supporting your back. Another place is where you rest your feet right in front seat. The kick panels are a great spot for the front speakers. You can angle these phones still allow good foot room as the sound waves hit the opposite side passenger directly for max sound. When installing sound systems we look for which the vehicle will offer for locations that allow alternative ideas for example places to hide speakers and various sound box sizes based on ones desires.

If you are seeking first row, front seat sound then a mid range front floor speaker in which the floor is eliminate to house 8 inch Dyn-Audio mid-range speakers is the ticket. Pointing them directly at the front seat passenger’s ear for max sound may be the only way because they are directional speakers. Right under the dash is a great place to install Image Dynamic Horn speakers for highs/tweeters that provide super crisp vocals and also the lead guitars can come to life. Essentially it’ll seem like a whole band is looking at the hood from the car with unreal clarity and 0 distortion detected by any humans ear. When building hi-level systems such as this high power is needed therefore the front speakers could be powered by a JL 450/4v2 amp for optimum output with 1 gauge power leads and crossovers with separate equalization installed. For subwoofers you need a large amount of power such as 2-1000 watt JL amps to supply power for any qty of 6 -10 inch W6 JL drivers in the trunk. Image Dynamics EQ allows complete adapting to the machine.

Installing an EPICENTER by Audio Control is really a nice ingredient that allows you to enhance more bass in older music it originally had. It features A Dial Rotation. Your fuse block must be upgraded when you go this route to massive 1-0 wires and relays to keep everything powered up safely. Hiding wiring where carpet can cover them over and from heat sources like exhaust systems is very important and a door step plate channel is an excellent method to run the wires tailgate to cab. We love to Optima batteries to power everything because they are gel and have no acid residue. Yellow Red and or Blue top are built for marine use for added reserve capacity. Remember that you might want to upgrade the amps inside your alternator and these are available at most auto parts stores. XM satellite radio is another nice touch. On projects where other components are taking up space you have to improvise.

To construct a custom Sub Box take MDF Wood and eliminate 6 MDF rings on the router to simply accept JL W6 speakers. Then mount/glue them in the right matching angles and you’re simply then ready to start covering them. We take fleece and cover them tight utilizing a staple gun then they are wrapped and ready for many fiberglass resin work. Mix up and coat them with resin saturating all materials to get a strong first layer to aid thicker matting later.

Nowadays, there’s no home with no DVD player, but one from the latest and coolest ways to electronically enhance your every day life is installing one into your car! Car DVD players come in various different varieties and prices, but even the cheapest ones will send you into movie viewer heaven!

Steps:

1. Look for a car DVD player that you can afford. Car DVD players can be simple or very extravagant. Portable units that sit between the seats and plug into the cigarette lighter are generally more modest instead of a full-blown in-car theater system (from $100 to $3,000 and more).

2. Most people who are seeking to add electronics for their vehicle will want to future-proof their purchase by choosing car DVD players. Anything else that is not as advanced will simply be outdated.

3. Inspect your vehicle for top spot to install a car DVD player. You will want your car DVD player to take benefit of the best-quality inputs available.

4. Bring a DVD along with you while you shop. You will find three competing, incompatible formats: DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM. Even when a player says it requires your format, ensure that you test drive it.

5. Buy an all-in-one car DVD player or individual components in case your finances are small (under $250) as well as your needs are simple. An all-in-one unit includes a videocassette player (VCP) or a DVD player, speaker and screen.

6. Component systems make use of your vehicle’s stereo and pipe sound straight to headphones for quiet viewing. Most high-end car stereo retailers carry these systems. Select a component system ($400 and up) in which a single video source can run several screens, usually liquid-crystal displays (LCDs). The car DVD player screens can pop out from the dashboard, drop down in the car’s ceiling or mount in headrests.

7. Make sure any component product is expandable, so you can adjust the body later on for more or different screens and input devices.

8. A diversity antenna, also called a dual-antenna, can be used for better TV reception once the car is moving and it is recommended.

9. Ensuring your vehicle’s electrical system are designed for the requirements of a mobile entertainment product is very important. You might need a professional installer to find out this for you.

10. Remember that the audio encoding-Dolby Digital or digital theater system (DTS)-on the DVD is critical.

Tips: Car DVD players may also play audio CDs. If you burn CDs on your pc, take along a homemade disc to test it.

One Canadian gentleman residing in Ottawa and something California-based manufacturer of stereo equipment have together demonstrated the way the world has become smaller. After analyzing the data available on the World Wide Web, the Ottawa resident chose to purchase the R Alpine subwoofers, components made by the Alpine Company of Torrance, California. The Canadian desired to enhance his car audio bass.

Why did a Canadian order a component from a company in California? Details on the R Alpine subwoofer provide part of the answer. The R Alpine subwoofer is made from specially-selected materials. In addition it contains top-quality electrical parts. Most significantly, the R Alpine subwoofer includes a Thermal Management feature. The R Alpine subwoofer provides a car owner with an excellent addition to their car audio and video bass system.

Why should any car owner choose to purchase subwoofers with a Thermal Management feature? Understanding the response to that question requires an awareness of the wiring basics for any car audio system. Let’s review those basics now.

If the subwoofers were wired towards the amplifier utilizing a parallel wiring pattern, then your resistance in those subwoofers could be reduced. Obviously the reduction in the resistance would result in a rise in the present passing through each subwoofer. Increased current might lead to unwanted heating. A Thermal Management feature limits the probabilities that such heating might take place. That should explain the benefit of adding R Alpine subwoofers to a car audio and video bass system.

Now an automobile audio bass system needs more than subwoofers. Additionally, it needs an amplifier. The Canadian who purchased the R Alpine subwoofers also bought an Alpine amplifier. What features within the Alpine amplifier must have caught the attention from the Canadian car owner?

The Alpine amplifier could be adjusted from the head unit. Which include gives the operator associated with a vehicle designed with the Alpine amplifier access to custom control and tuning. The Alpine amplifier can provide which include since it has a small interface unit, one called KCE-510M. That unit connects the top unit and also the amplifier. That unit gives
